Brit tennis player, Andy Murray is all set to make his fifth appearance at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old was named in Great Britain’s team for the upcoming Summer Games in Paris on Sunday, June 16. Murray, who is a two-time gold medallist, has been named alongside Olympic debutants Jack Draper, Cam Norrie and Dan Evans in men’s singles.
However, Katie Boulter is the sole representative in the women’s singles in the Paris Olympics for Team Great Britain. Apart from them Tokyo 2020 Olympians Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski will represent the country in the men’s doubles.
Andy Murray “not 100 percent sure” to play 2024 Paris Olympics
The 37-year-old, who will be making his final appearance at the Games this summer, is “not 100 percent sure” to feature at the quadrennial games. Murray, who intends to retire this year, was granted an International Tennis Federation (ITF) place to compete at the Games despite a ranking of 97 as he is the former Grand Slam and Olympic winner.
“I am not 100 percent sure,” Murray told reporters at the Queen’s Club. “It depends a little bit physically how I am doing. How the next few weeks go well. Yeah, my plan just now is to play, but it is not straightforward,” he added.
“I’ll find out in the next 10 days or so on doubles and what’s going to happen there. Hopefully me and Evo get the chance to play,” he continued.
The Brit has previously won an Olympic gold at London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The Olympic tennis tournament will be played from July 27 to August 4 at the Stade Roland Garros.
