Jake Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer, has announced that he will be taking on Mike Perry in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. The 27-year-old will fight against Mike Perry on July 20, the same date when he was slated for a blockbuster match against Mike Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, only for it to get postponed due to the medical issues for the latter.
Notably, the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson match is rescheduled for November 15, and it will be streamed on Netflix. But prior to that, Paul will be shifting his attention to Perry, facing him at the “Fear No Man” event, available on DAZN pay-per-view.
In his statement to ESPN, Jake Paul spoke about his newly scheduled fight and said, “When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20. Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry.”
Jake Paul praised Mike Perry for his accomplishments in his combat sports career and remarked, “He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk. Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man.”
“I’m going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I’m bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson. Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send ‘Platinum’ Perry the Platypus back to bare knuckle for good,” he added.
In the same “Fear No Man” event, Amanda Serrano will be taking on Stevie Morgan in a 10-round junior welterweight bout after her rematch with Katie Taylor got bumped to November 15 as well.
