The fans of Turkey and Georgia fought inside the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund ahead of their opening match in Group F at the UEFA Euro 2024 on Tuesday, June 18. The brawl between both sets of supporters happened during a torrential downpour in the city, which caused the roof of the stadium to leak.
The fighting began at the ground level of the Signal Iduna Park in one of the corners, where the supporters were spotted throwing punches and objects towards each other. The police officers in riot gear came between them to stop the messy situation before they remained in place to ensure no further problems ensue.
After the brawling stopped, the fans got to witness their players put on a show in the first half of their Group F match at the UEFA Euro 2024. Mert Muldur gave Turkey the lead with a fantastic volley, finding the top corner, in the 25th minute past Giorgi Mamardashvili in the Georgia goal.
But just seven minutes later, against the run of play, Georges Mikautadze scored the equaliser for Georgia, which was also the first-ever goal for the country in the Euros.
In the second half, the Turkish teenager Arda Guler scored a curling strike into the top corner from outside the box, to give his team the 2-1 lead. Georgia pushed for the equaliser, but in the second half stoppage time, Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu put the game beyond them, making it 3-1 win for Turkey.
