Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter bid adieu to cricket after IPL 2024 as the 10th highest run-getter in the IPL. Playing for different franchises including Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Lions, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Karthik has amassed 4842 runs in 257 matches with 22 half-centuries from 2008 to 2024.
9. Robin Uthappa – 4952 runs
Another veteran Indian wicketkeeper who is known for tying his name with multiple franchises throughout his IPL career, Robin Uthappa is the ninth highest run-scorer in IPL. During his IPL career which spanned between 2008 and 2022, Uthappa amassed 4952 runs from 205 matches with 27 fifties.
8. Chris Gayle – 4965 runs
Former West Indies star Chris Gayle has shattered many records throughout his IPL career, including his famous 175-run knock in IPL 2013. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, Gayle has scored 4965 runs from 142 matches with six hundred and 31 fifties in his IPL career from 2009 to 2021.
7. AB de Villiers – 5162 runs
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers is the seventh highest run-scorer in IPL. Known for his ability to hit the ball anywhere on the ground, De Villiers has played for Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in his IPL career, scoring 5162 runs in 184 matches with three hundred and 40 half-centuries from 2009 to 2021.
6. MS Dhoni – 5243 runs
Former Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni comes sixth in the list of players to score most runs in IPL. The wicketkeeper-batter has played 264 matches in his IPL career, scoring 5243 runs along with 24 half-centuries from 2008 to 2024.
5. Suresh Raina – 5528 runs
Also known as the ‘Mr. IPL’, Suresh Raina has been a consistent performer in every IPL season he has played. The former cricketer has 5528 runs with a hundred and 39 fifties to his name from 205 matches in his IPL career from 2008 to 2021.
4. David Warner – 6565 runs
One of the most consistent performers in every IPL season, former Australian cricketer, David Warner is a frequent name in the list of leading run-getters in almost every season, having won the Orange Cap three times (2015, 2017 and 2019). The left-hander has amassed 6565 runs from 184 matches with four hundreds and 62 half-centuries in IPL from 2008 to 2024.
3. Rohit Sharma – 6628 runs
The five-time IPL winning captain, Rohit Sharma is the third-highest run-getter of all time in the IPL. The opening batter has played for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in his IPL career, scoring 6628 runs in 257 with two centuries and 43 half-centuries from 2008 to 2024.
2. Shikhar Dhawan – 6769 runs 
Veteran Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan is the second highest run-scorer in the IPL. The left-hander has played for different franchises (Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings) in the IPL, scoring 6769 runs from 222 matches with two hundreds and 51 half-centuries from 2008 to 2024.
1. Virat Kohli – 8004 runs
The all–time highest run-scorer in the IPL, Virat Kohli is way ahead of all the names in the list mentioned below and is the only player to cross more than 8000 runs in the IPL. Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru throughout his IPL career, Kohli has been a consistent run-getter in the tournament having won the Orange Cap in 2016 and 2024 respectively. The right-hander has amassed 8004 runs from 252 matches with eight centuries and 55 half-centuries from 2008 to 2024.
