After a comprehensive 4-1 series win against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, in Harare, Zimbabwe, the Men in Blue will next take on Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series, starting July 27. While the two South Asian cricketing nations will first lock horns in a three-match T20I series from July 27 to 30th, they will then play three-match ODI series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo from August 2nd.

However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will no more be seen in the shortest format of the game, but as per the latest update, Team India captain, Rohit Sharma is likely to make himself available for the ODI series. Although the two senior players had requested the Board of Control for an extended break, but according to Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma is set to return for the ODI series, while Hardik Pandya is likely to take charge in the T20I series.

Moreover, the report also states that Kolkata Knight Riders captain and star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who was excluded from BCCI’s central contract list earlier this year, is expected to be part of the ODI team along with KL Rahul, but star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the ODI leg of the Sri Lanka series due to personal reasons. If Rohit decides to remain unavailable for the ODIs, then KL Rahul will lead the side just like he did in the last ODI series against South Africa in December 2023.
