We’re on the tube: Team USA superstars take London Underground before win over South Sudan

A few members of the USA Men’s basketball team ditched the luxury transport before defeating a scrappy South Sudan team and decided to take the tube to reach the O2 Arena in Lo ndon. Team USA have been on a worldwide tour ahead of the Paris Olympics which included a stop in London where they took on a young and upcoming South Sudan side that put forth a brilliant performance.

Coached by Houston Rockets assistant coach, Royal Ivey, South Sudan stunned Team USA and even led the defending Olympic gold medalists by 16 points. But an 18-point rally by the Americans brought them back before LeBron James sealed the 101-100 win with an authoritative layup with eight seconds to spare.

But before this clash, Team USA players Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Bam Adebayo with a few support staff members took the London Underground. The video of this tube journey was shared by Tatum on his Snapchat with the caption, “We’re on the tube!”

LeBron James: Edwards on how Team USA defeated South Sudan

After this thrilling win, Anthony Edwards was asked about what worked for Team USA against South Sudan. The Minnesota Timberwolves star had a one-word reply and named his veteran teammate LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers star scored 23 points with six rebounds and six assists.

Further speaking on the victory, Edwards, as per BBC Sport, said, “The match was super important because we feel like we can’t be beaten and they showed us we can be beat. We have to come ready to play.”
