Paris Olympics 2024 Boxing: Nikhat Zareen advances into round of 16 with 5-0 win over Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer

India’s top medal contender at the Paris Olympics 2024, boxer Nikhat Zareen made a winning start, beating Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer in the women’s 50kg category. While Indian boxer, Preeti Pawar gave a winning start on Saturday night to the Indian boxing contingent, Zareen continued the dominant run of the Indian boxers as she cruised past her German opponent with a 5-0 win on points.

Zareen won by unanimous decision, with all five judges scoring in her favour in the Round of 32 at the North Paris Arena on July 28. While the Indian was handed a tough draw, she claimed the first round, edging out Kloetzer, showing her dominant self.

The 28-year-old Indian professional boxer will next face on China’s Wu Yu, who is the top seeded and world champion in the 52kg category on Thursday August 1 at 2:30 pm IST.

On Saturday, July 27, Preeti Pawar made a winning start in women’s 54kg category at the Paris Olympics. The Indian boxer defeated Vo Thi Kim Anh of Vietnam, confirming her pre-quarterfinals berth.
