Preity Zinta files court case on Punjab Kings co-owner; seeks restraining order: Reports

Preity Zinta, who is one of the four owners of Punjab Kings, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, has reportedly filed a case against co-owner Mohit Burman in the Chandigarh High Court. She seeks a restraining order to stop Mohit Burman from selling a portion of his shares in Punjab Kings, which he categorically denies.

As per the report from Cricbuzz, Preity Zinta, the actress from Bollywood, who owns 23% shares in Punjab Kings via the KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, filed an appeal against Mohit Burman in high court, owning the majority shares, 48% in total. Notably, third owner Ness Wadia has 23% shares of the IPL franchise, while the remaining shares are with fourth owner Karan Paul.

The appeal from Preity Zinta is in regards to the reported plans of Mohit Burman to sell a portion of his shares, which he has denied during his recent interview by saying, “I don’t have any plans to sell my shares.” Although, there have been reports claiming that he intends to sell 11.5% of his shares to an unnamed party.

“Preity Zinta said (Mohit) Burman holds approximately 48 per cent of the shareholding and is also on the board of directors. She has filed the petition under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act-1996 seeking interim measures and direction in view of the disputes and differences between her and respondent Mohit Burman,” as per the report from the Tribune.

The case filed by Preity Zinta against Mohit Burman will be heard in the Chandigarh High Court on Tuesday, August 20.
