The inaugural Esports World Cup 2024 concluded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with Team Falcons clinching the club championship. Esports World Cup set to return to Riyadh in August 2025
The Esports World Cup (EWC) will return to Riyadh in July and August 2025 after a highly successful first edition in 2024. The inaugural event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, attracted over 500 million viewers, making it the most-watched esports tournament of the year.
Organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), the event featured over 1,500 top esports players from more than 100 countries, competing across 21 games. The tournament had a record-breaking prize pool of over $60 million. Team Falcons, from Saudi Arabia, won the Club Championship and earned $7 million. They also excelled in 18 of 22 game championships, winning in Call of Duty: Warzone and Free Fire, and finishing in the top three in six other games.
During the closing ceremony, Team Falcons received the Club Championship Trophy from HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
The Esports World Cup will be even bigger in 2025, as the EWCF aims to boost the esports industry and make Riyadh a global gaming hub.
