World Deaf Championships 2024: Dhanush Srikanth breaks world record; India dominates in Men’s Air Rifle event

India dominated Day 2 of the World Deaf Championship 2024 10m Air Rifle event, in Hanover, Germany. Players such as Dhanush Srikanth, Shourya Saini, and Mohammed Murtaza secured gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively. On the other hand, Srikanth etched new world record, setting new benchmarks. 

The gold medallist, Dhanush made two world records in a single day. He scored 632.7 in the qualification round, followed by 251.7 in the final. On the other hand, Saini bagged the silver medal with a score of 249.9, barely missing the gold medal. Murtaza won the bronze medal with the score of 226.2. 

Apart from this, in the women’s 10m air rifle event, Mahit Sandhu won the silver medal while Natasha Joshi secured the bronze medal. With this, the Indian contingent now has nine medals after the second day, having secured four medals on the first day. On the first day, India won one gold, two silver, and one bronze.

Anuya Prasad won the gold medal on day one while Abhinav Deshwal and Shubham Vashisht won silver and bronze medals respectively. Notably, the likes of Deshwal, Vashisht, and Chetan Sapkal also competed as a team and won the silver medal.
