India outclassed Bangladesh in all aspects to register a massive 280-run victory in the first Test at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The hosts India were asked to bat first in by Bangladesh after losing the toss, and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The score was reduced to 144/6 in 42.2 overs on day one. After that, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja came to the rescue of the Indian innings. Ashwin came up with his sixth Test hundred, and he got out after scoring 113(133) runs. Along with that, Jadeja also scored his 20th half-century, scoring 86(124) runs as India posted 376 in the first innings despite a poor start.
Lethal pace attack to wrap up Bangladesh innings
Following a very good score of 376 on the board, it was upto Indian bowlers to bowl Bangladesh out early in the first innings to take a big lead in the Test match, and the Indian pace attack didn’t disappoint. With Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge with four wickets, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj also went on to take 2-2 wickets each as India bowled Bangladesh out for just 149 runs in the first innings, and took a lead of 227 runs. After that, Bangladesh couldn’t make a comeback in the match.

After Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill took India to a massive lead of 515 runs with respective centuries in the second innings. Now India needed to take all 10 wickets of Bangladesh to finish the game and as always, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took charge with the ball. The centurion of the first innings, Ashwin went on to take six wickets, while Jadeja put three in his bag as Bangladesh lost all 10 wickets for 234 runs in the fourth innings, and India registered a massive win in the first Test.
