Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who earlier scripted history by becoming youngest debutant in the Ranji Trophy in the modern era, once again shattered all records. Suryavanshi had broken legendary batter Sachin Tendkular as well as former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s record when he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar against Mumbai. Suryavanshi was only 12-year-old during his debut, while Tendulkar made his debut at the age of 15 years and 230 days and Singh debuted at the age of 15 years and 57 days.
Suryavanshi had already played for India U19 before he played for Bihar. The youngster made his return for the Youth Test matches and opened against Australia U19 on September 30. While batting for the side, he etched his name in the history books by becoming the youngest half centurion and later a centurion at the age of 13 years and 187 days in U19 cricket. By the end of the day’s play, Suryavanshi had smashed 81 runs off 47 deliveries with a combination of 13 boundaries and 2 maximums as India posted 103/0 in 14 overs.

Vaibhav, who idolises legendary Brian Lara, could once again make it to the youth ODI team and might be considered for the 2026 U19 World Cup. Earlier in an interview he had told Times of India, “My idol is Brian Lara. I watch his videos and batting style. I just love his 400 not-out innings. I have watched it several times. The best thing I like about him is that he doesn’t leave the match in between. He doesn’t give up. I have seen the match-winning attitude in him and this is the top-most thing I want to learn from him. I just love the way he used to take the match till the end and then win it. I want to dominate the bowlers the way Lara did.”
