Deepak Chahar confident CSK “will bid for me” at IPL 2025 mega auction

Star India pacer Deepak Chahar has been on and off the field this year, but recently returned to competitive action in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. Having played all four matches in the domestic cricket tournament for Rajasthan this season, he has bowled 99 overs and taken 13 scalps. However, he aims to return into the Indian colours, he also opened up on the possibility of rejoining the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the mega auction.

With the IPL 2025 mega auction set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Indian pacer believes that CSK will bid for him. Meanwhile, he also named the second franchise he likes to be picked by if CSK fails to make the bid in the mega auction, later this month.

I would like to don the yellow jersey again: Deepak Chahar

Chahar, who regained full fitness and is featuring in the Ranji Trophy, spoke with Times of India (TOI) and opened up on playing for the Yellow Army once again. On being asked how he feels after CSK did not retain him for IPL 2025, Chahar said, “I was not retained by them in the last mega auction as well. But they went all out for me and bought me back.”

“I don’t know what will happen this year, but I know my skill will be valued more now given the fact that around 90-100 runs are being scored in the powerplay and that’s why the teams are scoring more than 200 more frequently. I have proved how valuable I can be in limiting runs in that phase of the game.” Chahar further added. “I think they will bid for me again. I would like to don the yellow jersey again and if not that, then I would want Rajasthan Royals to bid for me,” confident 32-year-old concluded.
