“No unity in Team Pakistan” – Coach Kirsten slams Babar Azam and his men after T20 World Cup 2024 debacle: Reports

Gary Kirsten, the Pakistan head coach, has reportedly slammed Babar Azam and his men after they were dumped out of the T20 World Cup 2024 from the group stage following a shock defeat against the USA. As per the reports, the 56-year-old spoke about how there is no unity in the Pakistani players, and they aren’t supporting each other either.

Notably, Pakistan finished in third place in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2024, behind their arch-rivals India and the USA, missing out on taking part in the Super 8 stage of the tournament. They went on to defeat Canada and Ireland in their group, but losses against India and the USA in last over thrillers cost them a place in the next round of the tournament.

Ihtisham Ul Haq, a journalist from Pakistan, took to his official X account to share a “shocking statement” from the head coach Gary Kirsten to his team, which read, “There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team. They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation”.

According to GEO Super, Gary Kirsten spoke about how the players “who value unity, focus on fitness and improve their skill set,” will be a part of the Pakistan cricket team going forward. The head coach also mentioned that the fitness of some of the players in the team is not up to the mark.

He talked about how some of the players in Pakistan are far behind in terms of the skill level in comparison to the rest of the world. They don’t know about which shot to play and when despite competing in hundreds of matches at the domestic and international level.
