I am really proud to be named the first-ever…: Jurgen Klopp on his new role at Liverpool FC

After spending nine years with Liverpool FC, German manager Jurgen Klopp announced in January 2024  his departure as Reds boss at the end of the Premier League 2023-24 season. However, the 57-year-old German has found another way to keep his connection intact with the English club. On Friday, July 12, Klopp agreed to continue as the honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation.

Following his exit from Borussia Dortmund,  Klopp took over the managerial reigns at Anfield in October 2015. In the 2018-19 season, the  German manager led the Reds to their first UEFA Champions League title victory after 14 years and later he helped Liverpool end their 30-year Premier League title drought.

Klopp talked about continuing his role as the honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation and stated, “The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond. I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first-ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”

The LFC Foundation CEO, Matt Parish said, “We are delighted that Jurgen is continuing his support of the Foundation as our first honorary ambassador.  Having his support has been priceless for us over the years and to have that continue is fantastic and highlights his commitment to the Foundation and the work that we continue to do across the Liverpool City Region.

“Jurgen’s love and passion for the city has been clear throughout his time at the club and it can only benefit us having his support and his voice championing the work that we do moving forward.”
