PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal lead Indian contingent at Paris Olympics opening ceremony

The 33rd edition of the Summer Games finally were opened on Friday night with two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and veteran table tennis player, Sharath Kamal leading the way for the Indian contingent as the flagbearers. The two senior athletes led India at the Parade of the Nations on the River Seine, which also showcased some electrifying performances from top artists.

Despite rain playing a spoilsport to the opening ceremony, Sindhu and Sharath Kamal led the way as they held the Indian tri-colour with pride in their official ceremonials. Moreover, around 78 athletes and members of the support staff joined Sindhu and Kamal for the grand opening ceremony, which was held in a 6km stretch along the river Seine from Austerlitz Bridge to Trocadero, in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Narendra Modi extends wishes to Indian contingent ahead of Parade of Nations

As the Indian contingent came in front during the Parade of the Nations at the Paris 2024 Olympics, India Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also extended his wishes, hailing them as “India’s pride”.

“As the Paris #Olympics commences, my best wishes to the Indian contingent. Every athlete is India’s pride. May they all shine and embody the true spirit of sportsmanship, inspiring us with their exceptional performances. #Paris2024,” he captioned a post on X.
