His endeavours made BCCI a pioneer: Sachin Tendulkar congratulates Jay Shah on appointment as ICC chairman

Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar congratulated BCCI secretary Jay Shah on his appointment as the ICC chairperson. On Wednesday, August 27, Shah was elected unopposed as the next Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah has been serving as the BCCI Secretary since October 2019 and Chair of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) since January 2021. Since his appointment, several personalities from the cricketing fraternity extended their wishes to Shah.

Cricketing legend, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also took to X to congratulate Shah who will assume the role on December 1, 2024. Shah, who will be the youngest ICC chairman in history at the age of 35, will replace current Chair Greg Barclay.

Indian batting stalwart Sachin Tendulkar joined his former teammates and other personalities from the cricketing fraternity to wish Shah for his new role. He took to X to write, “Being enthusiastic and having the drive to do something good for cricket are essential qualities for a cricket administrator. Jay Shah displayed these traits wonderfully during his stint as BCCI secretary.”

He added, “I wish him the very best of luck towards the next phase of his journey, as he becomes the youngest chairman of the ICC. India has sent several luminaries to lead the ICC as administrators: Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, Mr. Sharad Pawar, Mr. N. Srinivasan, and Mr. Shashank Manohar. I am sure he will build on their legacy and take the game of cricket forward.”
