Team India T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav is set to mark his return after he sustained an injury blow ahead of the Duleep Trophy opening round, which was played from September 5 to 8 in Bengaluru and Anantapur. The star Indian batter was ruled out of the opening round of Duleep Trophy after sustaining an injury in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament.
The 33-year-old Indian batter sustained a thumb injury while fielding for Mumbai in the team’s match against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) XI in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament and as a precautionary measure did not take the field later. Suryakumar Yadav suffered a sprain to his right thumb and joined National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his recovery.
Surya’s recovery is going well: BCCI source
One of the close sources of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have now shared a positive response on the middle-order batter’s injury. Speaking on the sidelines of the match between India A and India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, a BCCI source said, “Surya’s recovery is going well. He is almost 100 per cent and he knows it.”
With this update, SKY is set to turn up to return in the domestic tournament ahead of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. However, his return date still remains unclear as BCCI has not named his replacement in India C side. Speaking of India’s upcoming series against Bangladesh, after the conclusion of the two-match Test series, the two neighbouring nations will lock horns in a three-match T20I series, starting October 6.
